Praying The Lord’s Prayer

Praying the Lord’s Prayer.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer outline with seven major topics, each representing a basic human need:

  1. The Paternal Need: “Our Father”.  When we pray, all needs are met by the benevolence of a loving Father.
  2. God’s Presence: “Hallowed be Your name.”   Enter into His presence through praise (Psalm 100:4), and call Him “Father” because of Christ’s atoning blood. (Hebrews 10:19-22, Galatians 4:4-6)
  3. God’s Priorities: Your kingdom come.”  Declare that His kingdom priorities (Romans 14:17) shall be established in yourself, your loved ones, your church, and your nation.
  4. God’s Provision: “Give us.”  Jesus, the need-meeter, told us to pray daily, asking Him to supply all our needs.
  5. God’s Forgiveness: “And forgive us.”  We need God’s f0rgiveness, and we need to forgive others.  Daily set your will to walk in love and forgiveness.
  6. Power Over Satan: “And do not lead us…deliver us from the evil one.”  Pray a hedge of protection about yourself and your loved ones (Job 1:9-10, Psalm 91), and verbally put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:14-18).
  7. Divine Partnership: “For Yours is the kingdom.”  Praise God for sharing His kingdom, power, and glory with us (2 Timothy 4:18, Luke 10:19, John 17:22).

Praying the Lord’s prayer is the prayer that teaches us how to pray.

Love Your Enemies

Love your enemies. The word “enemy” does not suit any limited, convenient meaning, as though merely referring to those whom we may not particularity like.  The command to love our enemies means much more than simply changing our feelings about people with whom we do not get along.  Rather, “enemy” (Greek echthros) means “adversary or foe” and refers to those whose actions and words manifest hatred for you: the in-law who will not speak to you, the associate who tried to get you fired.  We are called to love those filled with animosity toward us.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?  And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?   Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-45)

Jesus leaves no room for speculation in this passage, commanding love for those who hate, despise, and persecute us.  Such love is only possible through the power of Jesus Christ, who Himself loved in that way and now seeks vessels through whom to love again the hate-filled who assail Him as they oppose you.

God’s Word Is THE Purifier Unto Holy Living

Purity of life is not a quest for perfection as much as it is a quest for liberation from those things that may inhibit effectiveness and reduce power-filled living.

My Jubilee Has Come

My jubilee has come. As new creations, it is important for us to fully realize the benefits and freedom God provided for us in Christ Jesus.

We must remind ourselves daily of the price Jesus paid in order for us to be free.

Jesus is the jubilee of God.  He came to preach the gospel to the poor, to set captives free, to heal the broken-hearted and to set at liberty them that were bound.

Because of this great gospel, we are free; free from bondage, fear, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, woe and care.

As you make this confession of faith, see yourself the way God sees you and sound your trumpet of freedom!

Father, in Jesus’ name, thank You for sending me my jubilee.  I’m grateful for the length You went to, in Christ Jesus, to set me free.  I recognize the benefits You provided for me in Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary.  I acknowledge the power of Your Word and the guidance of Your Spirit.  I will walk in the liberty provided for me as a new creation.  As an act of my will, I sound the trumpet of my freedom from sickness, disease, fear, lack, want, strife, non-forgiveness and care.  Jesus my Lord is the fulfillment of all You desire and have provided for me.  And I live in complete victory and success in every area of my life.  My Jubilee has come, in Jesus’ name.  Amen
